The area D3 2011 Fall Speech contests were held at the Olympic Park courtesy of our hostess, Lynn Ware Peak. The third floor meeting space in the Alf Engen Museum is likely the nicest location in North American that a Toastmaster speech contest could be held. Beautiful views out of large glass walls overlooking fall colors and the areal ski jumping pool (a slight distraction) made this contest spectacular.
Competing in the humorous contest were Carly Riehle from Broadway speakers club, Judy Ballantyne from Key club, and Stacy Dymalski from the Park City club. Dave Bullock from Park City won the Tall Tales contest by default (granted his speech fell within the time frame) since his opponent could not make the contest due to medical issues that week.
Stacy and Dave, from Park City, won their respective contests and will advance to the Division Contest held in October. Should they win at Division, they will advance to the District contest held in November in Salt Lake City at the Fall District 15 Toastmasters conference. Park City Toastmasters has produced two District Humorous contest winners, one Division International speech contest winner, one Division Tall Tales Contest winner, one Division Humorous contest winner, and one District Evaluation contest winner. No pressure Dave and Stacy (ha!).
