Club officials created a new tradition – roast the outgoing president at a summer dinner party and give out club awards and recognition. On the evening June 24, 2010, Julio was duly roasted. Lynn led a very funny skit depicting Julio refusing to coach executives who wore poor chooz (shoes). That was followed by several members acting out and exaggerating the different phases and interests of Julio’s life (military, medic, cyclist, coach, rv owner, etc.). Finally, Julio was recognized and honored for his achievements and skills with a Toast.
After Julio’s roast, time was taken to highlight the achievements of the club and its members during the last year, which were many. Two awards were created and presented – the ‘Jon Henry Toastmaster of the Year Award’ which was presented to its first recipient, Jon Henry, and the ‘Rookie of the Year Award’ which was given to Andy Cier. Finally, toasts were given to departing club founder Jon Henry.
